Transfer Sample - Poor Quality

Actual example of cheaply-transferred film from another transfer house.

This clip shows what film can look like when it is captured poorly. (Some “professional” services do nothing more than load your film on a projector and videotape the screen!) The movements of the objects on film appearing jerky is called flicker. Because we capture each frame as a digital image, flicker is completely eliminated. Please see our processes to learn more about the difference in quality.

Do it Yourself or Hire a Professional?

Of course preserving your memories is important to you, but is it important to use a professional, or would you be better off doing it yourself? It all depends on what you want. Use our guide below to see which solution works best for you:

Do it Yourself

  1. I just need a quick digital copy, I am not concerned about the quality.
  2. I don't care about flicker, I need the cheapest possible solution.
If these statements are true, you will probably be happiest transferring your media using home equipment or sending it to a transfer house where you can get a bulk discount rate.

Use Professional Transfer Services

  1. Flicker-free is important to me.
  2. There are imperfections in my original (poor exposure, mold) that I want eliminated from a digital copy.
  3. I am concerned about quality and final results.

You will get the best results using a professional service, such as DT Transfer and Edit, to digitize your media. Be sure that wherever you go, they use 100% digital processes.
